Tyler Carach, “The Donut Boy,” visited the Hilo Police Station with his family Tuesday morning to give out free donuts to officers.
Tyler loves the police and one day hopes to be a K-9 officer.
For the past several years he has travelled throughout the country giving officers donuts as his way to say “thank you,” hence the name of his organization, I Donut Need a Reason to Thank a Cop Inc.
Before this week, the 11-year-old boy from Florida had given away about 80,000 donuts to individual officers in 49 states. Hawaii is his last stop. He also will visit officers in Wailuku, Maui, and Lihue, Kauai.
“Donut Boy” greeted officers at the bench area in the covered parking between buildings A and B.
